Job description

Join AWS Applied AI Solutions and contribute to a vision of delivering business applications used by millions globally. We aim to accelerate businesses with intuitive technology solutions that address enduring challenges. By blending Amazon's real-world experience with innovation, we create opinionated, turnkey solutions for customers who prefer to buy over build.

Amazon Physical Stores operates like a start-up, driven by entrepreneurial leaders focused on pushing the boundaries of customer shopping experiences. Our stores utilize Just Walk Out Technology, powered by computer vision, sensor fusion, and advanced machine learning, to provide seamless, checkout-free shopping. Innovation is central to our DNA as we strive to be the most customer-centric company.

This role is part of an innovative program dedicated to advancing state-of-the-art computer vision, machine learning, distributed systems, and hardware design. We are seeking individuals eager to contribute to a forward-thinking environment.

Responsibilities

Generate forecasts and plan capacity for multiple network sites, managing short-term staffing (4-6 weeks). Collaborate with long-term planning, program, and operations teams to refine forecast inputs and exception mechanisms.

Create and maintain accurate associate shift schedules, optimizing them to meet short-term forecast requirements and service levels. Develop short/long-term operational plans for network sites to optimize variable staffing costs.

Produce intra-day, daily, and weekly plans to meet forecasted numbers and productivity goals. Establish feedback mechanisms for continuous improvement of capacity planning processes and future planning accuracy.

Conduct in-depth analysis of site/network performance to provide actionable feedback to Operations and program management stakeholders, aiding sites in achieving efficiency targets. Monitor actual staffing against plans and implement corrective actions, such as managing overtime, cross-skilling, and shift adjustments, to enhance service levels.

Effectively plan and monitor associate adherence to schedules, allocating time for non-productive activities. Maintain an associate matrix for each site, considering operational hours, seating, and transportation plans. Participate in initiatives to support business growth and connect with stakeholders across operations, program management, training, and GREF teams.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, macros, index/match, VLOOKUP, and VBA, is essential.

Demonstrated experience in problem-solving and root cause analysis is crucial. Candidates should have experience defining requirements and utilizing data and metrics for business insights. Familiarity with SQL or ETL processes is necessary.

Proven ability to work with and communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders, including C-level executives and cross-functional teams, is a key requirement. Experience in project management and thriving in a fast-paced environment is highly valued. Previous experience running an effective operational excellence program and managing engineering teams in a fast-paced operations setting is advantageous.
