This Senior Wintel Platform System Engineer role is pivotal in advancing our Windows platform estate through expert design, build, and automation. Focusing on end-to-end automation and lifecycle management, you will leverage SCCM, Ansible, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to deliver scalable, consistent, and secure infrastructure services. You will be instrumental in transitioning our operations to a modern, automation-led platform engineering model, ensuring all services meet stringent SLAs, security standards, and availability targets.
Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of SCCM solutions for OS deployment, software distribution, and compliance.
Develop and manage Ansible automation frameworks for Windows configuration, orchestration, and seamless integration with SCCM.
Construct and maintain automated Windows server build pipelines, including gold images and baseline configurations.
Deliver robust Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions for efficient provisioning and configuration management.
Automate critical processes such as patching, remediation, and compliance enforcement across the entire Wintel estate.
Integrate SCCM and Ansible with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows for enhanced agility.
Develop self-service capabilities to streamline application and infrastructure delivery.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex Windows platform issues, implementing automation-driven preventative measures.
Spearhead platform modernization initiatives to significantly reduce manual effort and operational overhead.
Contribute to capacity planning, performance optimization, and cost management strategies.
Collaborate effectively with infrastructure, security, and application teams to deliver reusable and scalable platform services.
Work closely with vendors and internal stakeholders to implement and uphold industry best practices.
Demonstrate strong experience in Wintel platform engineering and large-scale SCCM solution delivery.
Showcase a proven ability to implement and optimize SCCM (Endpoint Configuration Manager) environments.
Possess hands-on experience with Ansible for Windows automation, including WinRM, PowerShell modules, and orchestration.
Have experience building automated OS deployment and patching frameworks.
Exhibit experience in transforming traditional Windows administration into automation-led operational models.
Display the ability to lead workstreams and serve as a technical authority in Wintel engineering.
Possess strong problem-solving skills with a track record of resolving complex enterprise platform issues.
Show experience driving efficiency, compliance, and cost optimization through automation.
Advanced proficiency in Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, Group Policy (GPO), DNS, DHCP, PKI, Certificate Services, and PowerShell scripting is essential. Expertise in SCCM is a primary focus, with advanced skills in OS Deployment, patch management, software distribution, and compliance baselines.
Advanced skills in Ansible for Windows, IaC, and Git/version control are required. Intermediate knowledge of Intune/co-management is beneficial.
Advanced skills in golden image management, build automation, and patch orchestration are expected. Intermediate experience with monitoring/logging (e.g., Splunk), vulnerability tools, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS awareness) is advantageous.
Advanced understanding of virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), networking (TCP/IP, DNS, Load balancing), and intermediate knowledge of storage/backup technologies are necessary.
Strong working knowledge of ITIL Service Management, with intermediate experience in Agile delivery and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence), is required.
