As a Web Solutions Engineer on the YouTube Technology and Insights team, your primary focus will be on backend service architecture, high-throughput data pipelines, and API integrations that connect with client web applications and partner portals. You'll be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining backend service layers and APIs for seamless integration with web-based client applications, enabling automated workflows and actionable insights. You will also design, build, and deploy AI-powered solutions using Google’s Agent Development Kit, focusing on areas like Single and Multi-Agent systems with Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), versioned prompt libraries, skills, and evaluations.

Delivering high-quality code with comprehensive test coverage is paramount, ensuring the reliability, security, and accuracy of deployed solutions through robust testing and evaluation frameworks. You will write and review technical design documents for scalable systems, develop project plans, and manage engineering projects to completion efficiently. Furthermore, you'll devise novel approaches to address large-scale business problems, leveraging both rule-based and AI-based automations to reduce operational friction and technical debt. Active collaboration across global time zones and serving as a trusted technical representative on cross-functional projects will be key.

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience, is required. We are looking for candidates with a minimum of 4 years of experience in full-stack or back-end software development and system design. Proficiency with distributed data processing technologies such as BigQuery or Spark, event streaming platforms like Kafka, and scalable communication protocols like gRPC and Protocol Buffers is essential. Experience with both SQL and NoSQL database technologies is also a must.

Preferred qualifications include 4 years of experience in designing and optimizing databases, along with experience in systems for collaborative code reviews, version control, continuous integration, and automated testing. The ability to navigate ambiguous requirements and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders is highly valued. Strong systems fundamentals, coupled with prior experience or a strong desire to master agentic AI frameworks and LLM tooling, including LLMs, Agentic harnesses, Vector Embeddings, and RAG, will set you apart.
