Job description

Mastercard is a global technology company powering economies and empowering people across more than 200 countries. We are dedicated to building a sustainable economy where everyone can prosper. Our innovative payment solutions are secure, simple, smart, and accessible. We combine technology, partnerships, and networks to offer unique products and services that help individuals, businesses, and governments reach their full potential.

We are seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead the Consumer Data Management (CDM) platform. CDM is crucial for managing consumer identity, consent, and engagement across Mastercard's ecosystem. As we transition to a modern, AI- and data-centric architecture, CDM will enable trusted and compliant consumer experiences. This role is pivotal in driving the technology strategy, engineering execution, and operational readiness for identity, consent lifecycle management, and consumer engagement services.

Responsibilities

Define and execute the CDM engineering strategy, transforming existing services into a cohesive, scalable enterprise platform. Establish architectural direction, engineering standards, and platform guardrails to enhance scalability, reliability, security, developer experience, and delivery speed.

Own end-to-end engineering execution for CDM services, including design, development, testing, release management, and operational support. Ensure platforms are built for high availability, performance, observability, disaster recovery, and compliance with strict security and privacy standards. Strengthen engineering practices in areas such as API design, distributed systems, event-driven architecture, data governance, automation, CI/CD, and incident management. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, enterprise architecture, risk, and compliance teams to manage dependencies and ensure reliable service delivery. Integrate privacy-by-design and security-by-design principles throughout the development lifecycle.

Qualifications

Extensive experience leading large-scale software engineering organizations, with a proven track record in VP/Director-level leadership of global, distributed teams and mission-critical platforms. Possess deep technical expertise in distributed systems, APIs, data platforms, event-driven architecture, cloud-native engineering, identity systems, consent management, secure consumer data platforms, and third-party integrations.

Demonstrated ability to operate platforms requiring robust privacy, security, compliance, vulnerability management, resilience, observability, and SLA management. Experience in translating business and platform strategy into clear engineering priorities, architectural decisions, and measurable outcomes is essential. Strong judgment in balancing modernization, feature delivery, technical debt, and operational risk is required. A history of improving engineering maturity through automation, quality practices, and developer productivity is expected. Proven leadership skills in highly matrixed, global organizations, building alignment across diverse teams, and effective communication of technical strategy, risks, and delivery progress to senior leaders.
