Job description

Join EY as a senior Engagement Business Partner (EBP) and build a career within a global, inclusive culture. This internal finance role is crucial for supporting client-serving teams throughout the engagement lifecycle, from initial opportunity to final archiving. You will act as the primary Finance contact, ensuring successful project delivery. This is not a technical accounting position, but rather a strategic financial support role.

This dynamic opportunity is perfect for finance professionals seeking to contribute to profitable growth and exceptional client service. You will play a key part in supporting client-facing teams by ensuring all engagement lifecycle activities are executed accurately and on time.

Responsibilities

As an Engagement Business Partner, you will be the dedicated Finance liaison for Engagement Partners and Managers, overseeing the entire Opportunity Engagement Lifecycle (OEL). Your responsibilities include managing OEL tasks by delegating to Centres of Excellence (CoEs) and monitoring their progress. You will proactively identify and mitigate financial and quality risks within your engagement portfolio, offering strategic advice to enhance compliance and revenue stability. Ensuring adherence to service line-specific policies and supporting the annual external audit process are also key duties.

Key tasks involve coordinating with client servers and CoEs to apply OEL policies, monitor risk assessment, advise on pricing and budgets, and assess financial implications of engagement structures. You will also support Estimate-to-Complete (ETC) processes and working capital activities, while providing best practice insights on margin optimization and engagement structures. Upskilling client servers on OEL best practices, building strong relationships across departments, and reviewing CoE work are essential. You'll also contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for innovation and automation.

Qualifications

To excel in this senior EBP role, you need a minimum of two to three years of experience in a client-facing or finance-related position within professional services or a corporate setting. Proven experience in stakeholder management and delivering high-impact client service is essential. The ability to thrive in hybrid and fast-paced environments, coupled with a strong work ethic and the capacity to build relationships across all levels of the firm, are highly valued. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint) is required, along with adaptability and resilience.

Ideal candidates are highly motivated communicators who can establish credibility and articulate financial impacts in business terms. A team-player mentality, focused on both personal career growth and team development, is crucial. Strong analytical skills, commercial acumen, and a proactive approach to managing business outcomes and meeting deadlines are expected. You should be a quick learner, eager to share knowledge, and capable of translating complex technical information into understandable business language. Excellent listening skills and sound judgment, with the ability to escalate issues appropriately, are also important attributes.
