As a Senior Scala Developer within EY's GDS Tax Technology team, you will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and integrating cutting-edge technology solutions for our clients. The increasing complexity of regulations necessitates advanced data handling and analytics capabilities, and your skills will be crucial in meeting these demands.
Develop and maintain sophisticated software applications using Scala, adhering to best practices for clean, efficient, and reusable code. Collaborate closely with the development team, providing technical guidance and mentorship to ensure timely project completion. Conduct thorough code reviews, offering insights on coding standards, performance optimization, and security enhancements.
Implement test-driven development and automated testing strategies for Scala applications. Propose and evaluate multiple solutions for complex problems, detailing the advantages and disadvantages of each. Maintain a holistic understanding of the codebase to effectively contribute to design, development, and debugging sessions. Regularly engage in code optimization to uphold high-quality deliverables.
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of professional experience in Scala development, with a strong emphasis on Spark. Proven experience working with RDDs, DataFrames, and DataSets, including writing code for transformations and actions using in-memory processing. Familiarity with optimizing code for enhanced performance and efficiency is essential.
Exposure to database concepts, including read/write queries and handling large data volumes, is expected. A basic understanding of NoSQL databases like Cassandra and Astra is beneficial. Knowledge of distributed computing technologies such as Databricks is required. Hands-on experience with development tools like IntelliJ and proficiency in managing high data volumes (up to a million records per transaction) are key. Basic debugging skills, information security awareness, and the ability to perform developer testing are necessary.
