Key responsibilities involve managing IBM i system administration tasks such as user profiles, access controls, job monitoring, subsystem management, performance tuning, PTF application, OS upgrades, backups, restores, and production support.
You will also administer IBM Power Systems via the HMC, handling LPAR configuration, resource allocation, firmware updates, and system activation. This includes installing and configuring the Virtual I/O Server (VIOS), managing virtual networks and storage, and supporting Live Partition Mobility (LPM).
Implementing and maintaining disaster recovery strategies, monitoring replication, conducting DR drills, and ensuring RTO/RPO objectives are met are crucial. Additionally, you will manage Dell EMC Data Domain backup appliances and SAN/NAS storage infrastructure, overseeing provisioning, LUN mapping, zoning, performance, and migrations.
The role requires troubleshooting various system, hardware, application, and connectivity issues to ensure system availability, security, and compliance. You will also provide production and on-call support, manage incidents and changes, participate in Change Advisory Board activities, and coordinate with internal teams and external vendors. Maintaining technical documentation and supporting audits are also part of the role.
The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on experience with IBM AS400 / IBM i administration, covering user management, job monitoring, performance tuning, PTFs, backups, restores, and production support. Proven experience with IBM Power Systems and the Hardware Management Console (HMC) is essential, including LPAR management and resource allocation.
Knowledge of VIOS administration, virtual I/O configurations, NPIV, SEA, and Live Partition Mobility (LPM) is required. You should also have experience in disaster recovery and business continuity, including replication management, DR drills, and RTO/RPO compliance.
Hands-on experience with Dell EMC Data Domain backup appliances and SAN/NAS storage management, including provisioning and performance monitoring, is expected. Excellent troubleshooting, incident management, change management, vendor coordination, documentation, and communication skills are vital for success in this position.
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience is required for this role.
