This role focuses on the administration and maintenance of IBM AS400 (IBM i) systems, ensuring robust infrastructure including hardware, virtualization, storage, and disaster recovery solutions.

As an AS400 Specialist L1, you will be responsible for the comprehensive administration of IBM AS400 (IBM i) systems. This includes managing user profiles, access controls, job scheduling, and performance tuning.

You will also oversee IBM Power Systems administration via the HMC, managing LPARs, resource allocation, and system operations. Responsibilities extend to configuring and maintaining the Virtual I/O Server (VIOS), ensuring seamless virtual network and storage connectivity.

Furthermore, you will implement and manage disaster recovery strategies, conduct drills, and ensure RTO/RPO objectives are met. This includes administering Dell EMC Data Domain backup appliances and managing SAN/NAS storage infrastructure, including provisioning and performance optimization.

Key duties involve troubleshooting a wide range of system, hardware, and application issues to maintain high availability, security, and performance. You will also provide on-call support, manage incidents and changes, and contribute to Change Advisory Board activities.

We are seeking an AS400 Specialist L1 with a strong foundation in IBM AS400/IBM i administration. Essential experience includes user management, job monitoring, performance tuning, system upgrades, backups, and production support.

Proficiency in managing IBM Power Systems through the Hardware Management Console (HMC) is crucial, along with experience in LPAR configuration, resource allocation, and firmware updates. Knowledge of VIOS administration, including virtual I/O configuration, NPIV, SEA, and LPM, is required.

Demonstrated experience in disaster recovery planning and execution, replication management, and ensuring RTO/RPO compliance is necessary. Hands-on experience with Dell EMC Data Domain backup appliances and SAN/NAS storage management, covering provisioning, performance, and capacity planning, is essential.

Candidates must possess excellent troubleshooting, incident and change management skills, coupled with strong communication and documentation abilities. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience is required.
