Join Deloitte's Technology & Transformation practice as a Senior Consultant specializing in Mainframe. This role is based in Bengaluru and offers an exciting opportunity to work with vast amounts of data, providing strategic guidance and implementation services.

This position requires a strong technical background in mainframe technologies and a passion for unlocking the value within data. You will contribute to critical projects that shape the future of technology and transformation for our clients.

Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and IMS. Analyze business requirements and translate them into detailed technical specifications for development.

Perform coding, debugging, unit testing, and provide production support for applications. Work proficiently on both batch and online processing systems.

Utilize File-AID for in-depth data analysis, debugging, and file handling. Optimize existing programs to enhance performance and efficiency. Troubleshoot production issues effectively and provide timely resolutions to minimize downtime.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including QA, Business Analysts, and stakeholders, to ensure project success. Adhere strictly to coding standards, maintain comprehensive documentation, and follow best practices.

Support system integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT) phases to ensure application quality and client satisfaction.

A strong foundation in COBOL programming, JCL, DB2 (including SQL, stored procedures, and performance tuning), CICS, and IMS (DB/DC) is essential. Proficiency with File-AID for data manipulation and analysis is also required.

Possess a good understanding of mainframe architecture and environments, batch processing concepts, and scheduling tools. Familiarity with data structures and file handling specific to mainframes is necessary.

Demonstrated experience in debugging complex issues and performing performance tuning is crucial. Experience with mainframe modernization initiatives is a plus. Familiarity with version control and change management tools is beneficial.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are fundamental to succeeding in this role. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required, along with excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
