Job description

Join our dynamic team as an experienced Android Mobile Engineer, crafting innovative mobile applications that elevate the digital healthcare experience for a vast user base. This role focuses on developing robust, secure, and high-performance Android applications, fostering collaboration with Product, UX, Architecture, QA, and Engineering teams to deliver exceptional, customer-centric solutions.

As an individual contributor, you will be instrumental in building native Android applications using cutting-edge development frameworks and adhering to best practices. Your responsibilities will span the entire software development lifecycle, from solution design and development to rigorous testing, seamless deployment, ongoing maintenance, and critical production support. We are seeking a candidate with proven expertise in Android development using Java/Kotlin, API integration, automated testing methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and modern mobile architectural patterns like MVVM.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain native Android applications leveraging Java and Kotlin, ensuring responsive, scalable, and secure mobile solutions. Build reusable components and implement modern Android architectural patterns such as MVVM. Translate complex business requirements and functional specifications into high-quality code and effective technical solutions, contributing to the design and implementation of user-centric mobile features.

Integrate RESTful APIs and backend services, along with third-party SDKs (Firebase, Analytics, Maps, Push Notifications), into Android applications. Manage content from platforms like Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and implement essential functionalities including application caching, robust error handling, efficient networking, and offline capabilities.

Develop and execute comprehensive unit tests and UI automation tests using Espresso. Support Component Integration Testing (CIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), diligently troubleshooting defects, performing root cause analysis, and implementing effective fixes. Maintain high code quality through peer reviews, automated testing, and strict adherence to development standards.

Participate actively in CI/CD processes using tools such as Jenkins, SonarQube, and Gradle. Manage Android build configurations, signing assets, build types, flavors, and release processes. Provide essential support for application deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing production maintenance.

Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Product Management, UX, QA, Architecture, Security, and Operations. Document technical specifications, design decisions, and implementation details clearly. Engage in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, estimation, and timely delivery. Partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards and stringent security requirements.

Qualifications

A minimum of 2 years of professional software development experience, with a dedicated 2 years in native Android application development using Java and Kotlin. Proven experience integrating APIs and backend services, coupled with expertise in Android dependency management tools like Gradle and Maven. Experience integrating third-party SDKs, libraries, or source code is essential. A minimum of 1 year of experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or a comparable Content Management System (CMS) is required.

Proficiency in Android SDK, Java, and Kotlin, with a strong grasp of the Android app lifecycle and modern mobile application architecture, particularly MVVM and Android Jetpack components. Experience with Retrofit, REST API integration, networking, caching, and error handling is crucial. Demonstrated ability in writing automated UI tests using Espresso, knowledge of Git-based source control systems, and a solid understanding of mobile application security best practices are necessary.

Additional proficiencies include native Android application development using modern frameworks and design patterns, UI test automation with Espresso, and managing Android build configurations, signing assets, build types, product flavors, and release management. Experience integrating third-party SDKs (Firebase, Analytics, Mapping, Notifications) and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and mobile DevOps practices are highly valued. The ability to troubleshoot application performance, stability, and production issues, along with experience integrating content from headless CMS platforms, is expected. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills are fundamental.
