EY is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our Global Delivery Services organization. This role is pivotal in modernizing IT solutions by integrating software engineering principles into service delivery. The objective is to minimize IT risk, enhance business resilience, ensure predictability and reliability, and optimize IT infrastructure and operational costs.

A Site Reliability Engineer possesses extensive software engineering expertise, covering the design, build, deployment, and maintenance of IT solutions. They are responsible for ensuring the resilience, reliability, and performance of these systems. This role acts as a crucial link between development and operations, applying a software engineering mindset to application development, deployment, and maintenance. The focus is on maximizing system reliability and automation while driving efficiencies through resource optimization.

Key responsibilities include defining Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Objectives (SLOs), and Indicators (SLIs) for products and services. You will engineer resilient design and implementation practices into solutions throughout their product lifecycle. A significant part of the role involves engineering out manual effort (toil) by developing automated processes and services, such as automated system management and CI/CD improvements.

Developing observability solutions for tracking, reporting, and measuring SLA adherence is essential. You will also contribute to optimizing IT infrastructure and operational costs through FinOps practices. Critical incident management, automation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and runbooks, and reducing toil are core duties. Additionally, performing data analytics and system trend analysis will be part of your responsibilities.

This role requires a minimum of 7 years of experience in software product engineering principles, processes, and systems. Proven hands-on experience with Java/J2EE, web servers (Apache Tomcat or IBM HTTP Server), application servers (Tomcat/WebSphere), and major RDBMS like Oracle is essential. You must have practical experience with at least one CI/CD tool (Azure DevOps, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Ansible). Experience with cloud technologies (AWS/Azure/GCP) and containerization/orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) along with their reliability tools (Azure App Insight, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor) is required.

Proficiency in Linux (RHEL) operating system performance monitoring, parameter interpretation, and relevant commands is necessary. Experience with observability tools such as APM (Dynatrace, AppDynamics), metrics/log consolidation (Splunk), and the ELK Stack is crucial. The ability to define Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) and SLA/SLO/SLI agreements for products, platforms, or services is also expected. Knowledge of queuing models, thread pools, and request servicing processes is beneficial.

Familiarity with Web Services, SOA, ESB (DataPower), and RESTful APIs is required. Understanding of application design patterns, J2EE architectures, Microservices, Spring Boot, and cloud-native architectures is important. Proficiency in Java runtimes, Core Java, garbage collection, and JVM parameter tuning, along with experience in performance tuning on Application Servers (Tomcat/WAS), is needed. Troubleshooting performance, scalability, and availability issues, including thread dump and heap dump generation/analysis, is a key requirement. Knowledge of query tuning and database designs/models is also valuable.

Experience with at least one automation scripting language like Python is expected. Mastery in collaborative software development using Git, Jira, and Confluence is a must. Knowledge and experience in AI/ML and Data Analytics are considered desirable.
