A Senior Consultant - Backend Developer plays a pivotal role in architecting, developing, and maintaining robust backend services and APIs utilizing .NET and Azure. This position demands hands-on technical proficiency, accountability for backend components, and the ability to mentor junior team members while delivering high-caliber enterprise solutions. It's a delivery-centric, practical role involving technical leadership at the feature or module level.

Spearhead the design, development, and optimization of C# / .NET Core Web APIs, focusing on secure, scalable, and high-performance backend services. Implement best practices in dependency injection, middleware, async programming, and error handling. Develop and maintain well-versioned and documented RESTful APIs, integrating backend services seamlessly with databases and external systems. Ensure the reliability, performance, and maintainability of all backend components.

Deploy and manage backend services on Azure App Service, configuring application settings, environments, and secrets. Implement robust monitoring, logging, and diagnostics using Azure Application Insights, and effectively troubleshoot production issues using telemetry and metrics. Support release and environment management activities.

Engage with SQL Server / Azure SQL databases, writing optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, and data access logic. Ensure data integrity, performance, and proper transaction handling. Integrate with authentication providers and external APIs.

Take ownership of backend deliverables for assigned features or modules. Contribute to technical design discussions and effort estimations. Conduct thorough code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards. Mentor consultants and junior developers, and collaborate effectively with QA, DevOps, and cross-functional teams. Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks.

Exhibit a strong ability to design and troubleshoot complex backend systems, with expertise in resolving production issues efficiently. Demonstrate proficiency in optimizing API performance and database queries, employing an analytical approach to diagnose intricate technical problems. Make sound decisions concerning performance, scalability, and security.

Possess substantial experience in C# and .NET Core Web API development, coupled with a solid understanding of REST principles and API design patterns. Showcase expertise in dependency injection, middleware, and async architecture. Knowledge of API security concepts like OAuth2 and JWT is essential. Prior experience in microservices-based environments is a significant advantage.

Demonstrate strong experience with SQL Server / Azure SQL and a good grasp of database design and performance tuning.

Have hands-on experience with Azure App Service and Azure Application Insights for monitoring and diagnostics. Possess working knowledge of Git (Azure DevOps preferred) and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
