The Data Protection Understanding team is dedicated to developing solutions that accelerate and secure AI development at Google. We aim for widespread adoption of these technologies through robust infrastructure and automation. The Applied Lineage - CFG team specifically builds tools for high-fidelity data lineage graphs, ensuring accurate data representation across Google's systems. This empowers policy enforcement, privacy compliance, and data governance, allowing product teams to focus on innovation while data protection is expertly managed.

The Core team forms the technical bedrock of Google's leading products. We champion the design elements, developer platforms, and infrastructure that create exceptional, secure user experiences and fuel rapid innovation. By addressing technical barriers and strengthening existing systems across Google's product portfolio, the Core team makes significant technical decisions company-wide.

Provide impactful technical leadership on key projects, guiding a dedicated team. Inspire and mentor engineers across distributed locations, fostering a collaborative environment. Drive alignment and clarity among teams regarding objectives, outcomes, and schedules. Expertly manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. Forge strong collaborations with partner teams, cross-functional leads, and global stakeholders.

This role involves steering high-priority technical initiatives and managing a small, focused engineering team. You will be instrumental in coaching and influencing a diverse group of engineers, ensuring clear communication of goals and project milestones. Effective collaboration with internal teams and international stakeholders is crucial for success.

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience is required.

Minimum qualifications include 8 years of programming expertise in languages such as C++, Java, Python, Kotlin, or Go. You should also have 5 years of experience in testing and successfully launching software products. Additionally, 3 years of experience in software design and architecture, coupled with 1 year in a people management or team leadership capacity, is essential. Experience with Generative AI is also a must-have.

Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. We also value 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms, 3 years in a technical leadership role setting project direction, and 3 years working within complex, matrixed organizations on cross-functional projects.
