Lead the design and implementation of target state architectures for infrastructure automation, establishing organizational standards and patterns. Architect and guide the development of reusable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) components using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Crossplane. Define and promote GitOps-driven workflows for automated provisioning, deployment, and lifecycle management of cloud infrastructure. Develop and scale self-service platform capabilities, empowering developers with intuitive interfaces and APIs for independent infrastructure management. Integrate infrastructure automation with essential tools such as ArgoCD, Kubernetes, and CI/CD platforms (Tekton, GitHub Actions) to enhance developer experience. Review and approve new infrastructure standards, patterns, and practices, ensuring adherence to security, scalability, and reliability goals. Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Product Owners, and other Principal Engineers to influence product roadmaps and champion platform engineering solutions. Provide support for critical applications and customer journeys, including incident resolution, postmortems, and automation of operational metrics (SLO/SLI adherence, error budgets). Offer expert advice on implementation design, guiding leadership on innovative business solutions. Manage the complete software development lifecycle for platform engineering initiatives, from inception through deployment. Stay abreast of emerging trends in AI, software development, and system architecture, recommending cutting-edge innovations and best practices. Mentor and coach fellow engineers, cultivating a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence. Contribute to internal forums and communities of practice, advocating for software engineering best practices such as Test-Driven Development (TDD) and continuous delivery.

A minimum of 7 years of Engineering experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through work history, training, military service, or education. Over 7 years of experience in Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Solutions. More than 7 years of experience in software development and delivery, with a deep understanding of enterprise infrastructure technologies including virtualization, networking, storage, and security. Possess at least 5 years of experience supporting complex enterprise-level applications and platforms. Have 5+ years of hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, Crossplane, or similar Infrastructure as Code tools. Accumulate 5+ years of engineering and support experience on Linux/Unix and Windows server environments.

Additionally, desired qualifications include: 5+ years designing and building observability solutions (e.g., Splunk, Grafana, Elastic, AppDynamics, Prometheus). 3+ years of experience with GitOps principles and tools such as ArgoCD, Tekton, and GitHub Actions. 3+ years of experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs (using Golang or Python) and integrating infrastructure automation into platform services. 3+ years of experience with major cloud technologies including AWS, Azure, and GCP. 2+ years of experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and hybrid cloud platforms. Demonstrated expertise in designing complex, distributed, and scalable enterprise-level applications. Familiarity with developer portals (e.g., Backstage) and CI/CD pipelines. Exposure to service mesh technologies like Istio or Linkerd. Familiarity with image management tools such as Packer or Image Builder. A background in building platform engineering solutions that support cloud-native development and service ownership. Strong technical communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. A proactive, developer-first mindset focused on reducing friction and enhancing engineering productivity.
