Seeking an experienced COBOL Developer for a contract role focused on mainframe system conversions.

This position requires a strong background in COBOL development and a deep understanding of mainframe environments. The role involves critical data conversion tasks, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption.

Engage in comprehensive COBOL development activities, including coding, debugging, and problem-solving within complex mainframe applications.

Execute batch processing and job scheduling tasks effectively. Analyze and remediate code impacted by format conversions, particularly concerning field length changes. Ensure data integrity and accuracy during all conversion processes.

Demonstrate robust experience with COBOL development and associated mainframe technologies like JCL and batch processing.

Possess a strong understanding of VSAM, flat files, and relational databases such as Oracle. Proficiency in mainframe utilities (SORT, IDCAMS, etc.) is essential.

Experience in impact analysis, code remediation, and debugging complex issues is required. Specific expertise in handling field length changes during legacy system conversions, analyzing copybooks and file layouts, and identifying field length dependencies in COBOL data definitions is crucial.
