Join Google's innovation engine as a Staff Software Engineer focused on Search Production Intelligence. You will pioneer next-generation technologies that empower billions of users to explore and interact with information. This role offers the chance to tackle massive-scale challenges and contribute to products that extend far beyond traditional web search.
We seek versatile engineers who bring novel ideas from diverse fields like information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, and artificial intelligence. As part of a dynamic team, you'll have opportunities to switch projects and grow with our fast-paced business, pushing the boundaries of technology.
You will drive the technical direction for critical production intelligence areas within Google Search, including agentic operations, real-time feature monitoring, and user-perceived reliability. Your work will involve setting multi-quarter roadmaps and influencing a distributed team of engineers.
Key responsibilities include leading reliability efforts for new Search product experiences like AI Mode and AI Overviews. You'll scale agentic operations, develop reusable skills, and enhance system performance through continuous feedback loops. Designing AI-native solutions with LLMs, agents, and skills as core components for detection, triage, and remediation will be central to your role.
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience is required, along with 8 years of software development experience. You should have 5 years of experience building large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, networks, or related compute/storage technologies.
Demonstrated experience in designing, building, and operating highly scalable, fault-tolerant, and reliable distributed systems is essential. Expertise in software engineering, infrastructure, security, Big Data, analytics, or cloud networking is expected. Experience with LLMs, agents, tools, or AI-assisted development, particularly with real-world AI solutions, is also a prerequisite.
