Join Google's Persistent Disk Snapshot Team and shape the future of data protection for Google Cloud.
This role offers the opportunity to work on foundational data protection and disaster recovery solutions, ensuring business continuity for global enterprises. You'll contribute to building highly reliable, scalable, and high-performance data protection infrastructure.
As part of a dynamic team, you will tackle exabyte-scale distributed storage and metadata challenges, directly impacting the reliability of Google Cloud Platform for millions of users worldwide. Google Cloud is empowering organizations to digitally transform their businesses with cutting-edge technology.
As a critical technical leader, you will define the strategy, roadmap, and architectural direction for Google Cloud's backup and disaster recovery primitives. You'll be instrumental in managing complex, ambiguous problems, fostering consensus across multiple cross-functional teams, and driving the evolution of PD Snapshots to support exponential growth.
Key responsibilities include leading multi-quarter initiatives focused on exabyte-scale data routing, metadata isolation, and zero-latency in-place backup mechanisms. You will act as a multiplier, championing product excellence, enhancing system reliability, and mentoring engineers of all levels to achieve ambitious global milestones. A significant part of the role involves aligning stakeholders, peer teams, and executive leaders on critical design and integration decisions.
The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, coupled with 8 years of programming experience in C++. A minimum of 5 years of experience in testing and launching software products is essential, alongside 5 years of experience in building large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, networks, or compute/storage technologies.
Furthermore, 3 years of experience in software design and architecture is required. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree or PhD in a related technical field, 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms, and 3 years in a technical leadership role. Deep C++ expertise, particularly in multi-threaded programming, concurrency control, and low-level system optimizations, is highly valued, as is extensive background in modern cloud storage infrastructure, disaster recovery, or snapshot methodologies.
