As a Staff Software Engineer on the Google SDN Control Plane team, you will be instrumental in owning Orion Hierarchical Rollouts and Orion Config, providing crucial technical leadership for high-impact projects. You'll drive the Orion Rollouts roadmap, aligning with long-term SDN goals, and influence a distributed engineering team. Deeply understand the Orion SDN domain, customer use cases, and future needs to help define component architecture. Facilitate cross-team alignment on goals, outcomes, and timelines. Innovate and execute novel solutions within Orion ProdInfra, managing project priorities and deliverables effectively. Design and implement robust APIs and interactions, and develop, test, deploy, and maintain large-scale software solutions.
To excel in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, coupled with 8 years of C++ programming expertise. A minimum of 5 years of experience in software product testing and launching, along with 5 years focused on building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, networks, or compute/storage/hardware architecture is essential. Additionally, 3 years of experience in software design and architecture is required. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree or PhD in a related technical field, 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms, and 3 years in a technical leadership role. Experience in complex, matrixed organizations is also a plus.
