Join Google's Cloud AI team as a Staff Software Engineer, focusing on cutting-edge document understanding technology. This role is instrumental in developing next-generation AI solutions that process and interpret information at a massive scale, impacting diverse industries.

As part of the Google Cloud AI Research team, you will tackle complex AI challenges and contribute to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in AI. Your work will involve leveraging agentic loops and fine-tuned open-source models to create impactful innovations for Google Cloud customers.

In this leadership position, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying scalable software solutions. Provide technical guidance and leadership on high-impact projects, managing priorities and deliverables. You will also facilitate cross-team alignment, influence engineering teams, and guide the implementation of advanced ML solutions.

Key duties include leading the design and optimization of ML infrastructure, overseeing model development and data processing strategies, and building novel solutions for document processing.

To excel in this role, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience is essential, coupled with at least 8 years of software development expertise. You should possess 5 years of experience in launching software products, and 3 years in software design and architecture.

Significant experience (5 years) is required in areas such as speech/audio technology, reinforcement learning, ML infrastructure, or other ML specializations. Proficiency in ML design, model deployment, evaluation, data processing, debugging, and fine-tuning is crucial. Experience integrating generative AI tools or LLM interfaces is also a key requirement. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s or PhD, extensive experience with data structures and algorithms, and technical leadership in complex, cross-functional environments.
