As a Staff Engineer, Search Intelligence, you will lead the architectural evolution of personalization within Google Search. You'll leverage your passion for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and prior experience in this domain to solve complex problems with increasing ambiguity.

Your work will involve utilizing languages such as Java, Kotlin, C++, and Python, and engaging with cutting-edge tools and platforms including Magi Response Server, Superroot, QFlow, GWS plugins, Magit/Silfra Orchestration, Gemini models, Orbit/Nemo, Sian, Anima, Footprints, online autoraters, EAS, SAIL, and Sherlog. You'll be instrumental in shaping the future of search.

We are looking for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 5 years of experience is required in areas such as Speech/audio technology, reinforcement learning, ML infrastructure, or a specialization in Machine Learning (ML).

Additional experience includes 5 years in leading ML design and optimizing ML infrastructure, alongside 5 years of experience in testing and launching software products. A strong foundation in software design and architecture, with at least 3 years of experience, is essential. Experience integrating generative AI tools or Large Language Model (LLM) interfaces into workflows is also a key requirement.

Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree or PhD in a related technical field, 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms, and enhanced experience in software product launch and design. Expertise in building or leveraging agentic frameworks and LLM-powered automation is highly valued.
