As a Senior Software Engineer, you will develop software and refine workflows to enhance the safety, reliability, and automation of Microsoft Defender service deployments to Azure. Your role involves building deployment automation and infrastructure tooling, working directly with service engineers, and providing production support for your solutions.

Key contributions include: - Constructing and maintaining deployment automation, Azure infrastructure tools, and pipeline checks for repeatable, reliable, and operator-friendly service deployments. - Overseeing engineering features from design through implementation, automated testing, rollout, and production support. - Partnering with Defender service teams to grasp deployment dependencies, optimize existing workflows, and integrate automation with clear ownership. - Producing maintainable, secure code and actively participating in design and code reviews, including validation, error handling, and safe rollback strategies. - Utilizing logs, telemetry, and incident findings to troubleshoot deployment issues and improve reliability, observability, and release quality. - Enhancing engineering efficiency within Defender by reducing manual deployment and operational tasks and developing reusable solutions for shared service needs. - Leading subsystem design, managing cross-team technical dependencies, mentoring engineers, and guiding implementation decisions for related components.

Required Qualifications: Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline with at least 8 years of technical engineering and coding experience. Alternatively, hold a Master's Degree in a relevant field with 6 years of comparable experience, or demonstrate equivalent practical experience.

Demonstrate experience in building or supporting deployment tooling, cloud infrastructure software, CI/CD pipelines, or production services. Familiarity with Azure, infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Bicep/ARM), containerized services, deployment validation, or release recovery processes. Proficiency in languages and tools such as C#/.NET, Python, PowerShell, REST APIs, Azure DevOps, or GitHub.

Other Requirements: Must be able to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements. Specialized screenings include the Microsoft Cloud Background Check, which requires re-screening every two years.

This role is full-time and requires 3 days per week in the office. The position is open for applications on an ongoing basis until filled.
