Amazon Books is seeking a distinguished Software Application Engineering Manager III to spearhead Katalyst-Tech. This specialized team focuses on automation and AI engineering within the Risk, Operations, Success and Engagement (ROSE) organization. You will define and execute strategies for scalable automation, operational tooling, AI-driven workflows, and application engineering solutions that empower Books Operations, Customer Service, Publishing, and Marketing.
The ideal candidate possesses robust technical leadership alongside operational acumen, driving significant automation initiatives. Your work will enhance productivity, reduce operational costs, and elevate customer experience across various partner teams.
Lead and nurture a team of Application Engineers, System Development Engineers, and RPA Developers supporting diverse Books organizations.
Champion the design and implementation of scalable automation solutions, internal tools, workflow platforms, and AI-powered operational systems.
Collaborate with Operations, Product, Program, and Engineering teams to pinpoint automation opportunities and prioritize high-impact initiatives.
Establish robust frameworks for roadmap planning, project execution, dependency management, and operational reviews across multiple programs.
Drive operational excellence through standardized development, testing, deployment, and support processes.
Take ownership of delivering GenAI and workflow automation initiatives utilizing AWS and internal Amazon technologies.
Mentor engineers and technical leads, fostering a high-performance engineering culture centered on innovation and execution.
Influence senior stakeholders through data-driven reviews, key metrics, and the articulation of long-term automation strategies.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
Demonstrated experience in designing, building, operating, and managing large-scale distributed systems or web services.
Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language, such as Java, C++, C#, Objective-C, Python, JavaScript, Ruby, or Go.
Experience with scripting and automating processes, including a solid understanding of the complete deployment life cycle from design to deployment.
Minimum of 5 years of experience managing engineering teams.
