Job description

Join Optum, a global leader dedicated to improving health outcomes through technology. As an I&O Engineering Consultant, you will play a crucial role in managing and securing devices within a dual UEM environment, leveraging Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM) and Microsoft Intune. This position is integral to maintaining OS and patch compliance, ensuring client health, and addressing vulnerabilities. Your expertise will be essential in operating both on-premise server infrastructure and cloud services, contributing to service restoration during major incidents and reducing Mean Time to Restore (MTTR).

This role emphasizes execution and deep troubleshooting skills, adhering to strict ITSM practices. You will also be instrumental in exploring and piloting AI-driven solutions to enhance reliability, efficiency, and user experience, always upholding organizational security and privacy standards. Embrace a culture of inclusion and continuous growth as you help advance health optimization on a global scale.

Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will encompass operating and improving software update and patching operations via SCCM and coordinating exception handling. You will track and enhance patch compliance across the endpoint estate, remediate non-compliant devices, and support executive reporting. Driving client health compliance by monitoring and remediating endpoint health, enrollment success, and policy/app deployment success is key.

Administer SCCM and Intune components, manage enrollment, configuration profiles, compliance policies, and application assignments. Monitor platform health and availability, ensuring device inventory accuracy and operational hygiene. Support OS deployment and servicing, execute post-deployment validation, and troubleshoot endpoint deployment issues using logs and diagnostics. You will actively participate in ITSM processes, major incident war rooms, and drive SLA adherence and MTTR reduction.

Furthermore, you will create and maintain PowerShell-based operational automations and propose AI-assisted improvements for tasks like ticket triage, log analysis, and runbook generation. Pilot small-scale AI/automation initiatives, ensuring compliance with security, privacy, and data handling policies. Leverage enterprise-approved AI tools to enhance productivity and innovation, evaluating emerging trends for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

We require a minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience administering SCCM and at least 3 years with Microsoft Intune. Proven experience in operations, health monitoring, and remediation of endpoint platforms, including client health, enrollment success, and content distribution, is essential. A strong background in patching and vulnerability operations, including MECM patching and executing remediation plans within required timelines, is necessary.

Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and remediation, along with familiarity with scheduled tasks and safe rollout practices, is required. You must be able to create repeatable runbooks and operational checklists. Experience working in war rooms, providing concise technical updates, and a working knowledge of Incident, Problem, and Change management processes are critical. An ownership mindset for SLA adherence and MTTR reduction is expected.

Core technical skills include 1+ years of administrative experience with Workspace ONE UEM, extensive knowledge of SCCM (application model, collections, deployments, client health, reporting), and Microsoft Intune (enrollment, policies, app deployment, RBAC). Experience with dual UEM operations to ensure consistent end-user experience is vital. Comfort using approved AI tools for documentation, analysis, and knowledge management, along with the ability to identify automation opportunities, is also required. A solid understanding of application packaging and deployment (MSI/EXE/MSIX/Win32) using SCCM/Intune is necessary. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience is preferred, along with ITIL Foundation or relevant Microsoft/Workspace ONE certifications.
