Google Cloud is seeking a dynamic Software Engineering Manager to lead a team focused on Looker, our advanced business intelligence platform. You will be instrumental in developing cutting-edge technologies that transform how users interact with data. Lead and mentor a team of 6-10 software engineers, fostering a psychologically safe environment that encourages collaboration and innovation. Drive the execution of cloud data analytics priorities for Looker, focusing on delivering an exceptional client experience and differentiating BI capabilities through AI integration.

Responsible for hiring, developing, and retaining top engineering talent. Provide comprehensive career growth guidance, coaching, and performance management to build an outstanding engineering organization. Ensure the team's roadmap directly aligns with critical business objectives.

Collaborate closely with Product Management, other Cloud Data engineering teams, and customer-facing roles. Respond effectively to customer needs and influence product strategy, ensuring the team delivers high-quality software on time. Set clear priorities, manage project execution, and communicate progress and risks to stakeholders across the organization.

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience is required. You should possess at least 8 years of software development experience in languages such as Python, C++, Java, or JavaScript, complemented by 5 years in a technical leadership capacity and 5 years in people or team management.

Experience with GenAI techniques, including Large Language Models (LLMs), multi-modal AI, or large vision models, and related concepts like language modeling and computer vision, is essential (minimum 2 years). A Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant technical field, along with 5 years of experience in a complex, matrixed organization, is preferred.
