Join Microsoft's mission to empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more. Our Federated Copilot Connectors (FCC) team is at the forefront, integrating everyday tools into Microsoft 365 Copilot. We utilize the open Model Context Protocol (MCP) to enable secure access to live data and actions within Microsoft and third-party systems, impacting enterprise customers globally across Copilot Chat, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Copilot Cowork.
This role is ideal for a Software Engineer passionate about building planet-scale copilot connector experiences. We foster a culture of growth mindset, continuous innovation, and collaboration, driving life-changing solutions that reach billions.
As a Software Engineer, you will deliver well-scoped features and fixes with increasing autonomy, consistently meeting commitments. You'll leverage AI tools to enhance productivity and quality while upholding rigorous engineering standards.
Key duties include writing high-quality, secure, and testable code with comprehensive test coverage, actively participating in code and design reviews. You'll also join the on-call rotation for incident triage and mitigation, investigating root causes, and implementing safe deployment practices like feature flags.
Upholding security, privacy, and compliance standards in every feature is paramount. This includes managing admin governance and tenant controls. Continuous learning and rapid adoption of new technologies are encouraged, with opportunities to expand scope and ownership over time.
We are seeking candidates with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, complemented by proven experience coding in languages such as C#, .NET, Angular JS, and JavaScript. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.
Preferred qualifications include solid coding skills in at least one language, experience developing features for distributed systems, and strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging abilities. Experience with cloud services (Azure preferred), REST APIs, and service-to-service authentication (OAuth 2.0, Microsoft Entra ID) is highly valued.
Further desirable experience encompasses front-end frameworks like React/TypeScript, telemetry and data analysis (Kusto/KQL), and hands-on use of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot). Familiarity with live-site operations, on-call rotations, and safe deployment practices is also beneficial. Candidates must meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including a Microsoft Cloud background check.
