We are seeking a proactive Software Engineer to contribute to our data-driven systems. This role involves developing robust backend services and data pipelines, analyzing crucial product health signals, and driving improvements across various device and silicon segments.

Key responsibilities include contributing to Windows Fundamentals metrics, queries, and measurement workflows for reliability, performance, and battery life. You will develop, test, and maintain backend services and data pipelines for telemetry ingestion, transformation, and monitoring. Applying sound engineering practices for service reliability, security, and data quality is essential. Analyzing telemetry and diagnostic signals to identify trends and customer impact, investigating data issues, and building automation for early issue detection are also critical aspects of this role.

Collaboration with team members and partner teams, participation in design and code reviews, and continuous technical development in services, data engineering, and Windows Fundamentals are expected.

We require a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, coupled with proven experience in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent practical experience. A minimum of one year of software engineering experience is preferred, gained through coursework, internships, projects, or professional work in areas like backend services, data engineering, or analytics.

Strong programming, analytical, and problem-solving skills are necessary, along with the ability to learn new technologies and use data to inform decisions. Familiarity with distributed systems, cloud platforms, data pipelines, or operating systems is beneficial. Experience with telemetry, metrics, SQL/KQL, performance engineering, or Windows internals is a plus.
