As a PhD Software Engineer, your advanced research expertise will be crucial for solving complex, large-scale real-world problems. You will be a key player in a dynamic team, responsible for the entire software lifecycle from design and testing to deployment and maintenance.

Design, develop, and deliver impactful product features and components within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) hybrid connectivity offerings. Lead projects from inception to launch with minimal supervision.

Architect and implement highly scalable, reliable, and secure distributed systems tailored for hybrid cloud networking. Make informed technical decisions in uncertain environments and proactively identify areas for system enhancement or new tool creation.

Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and other GCP Networking teams. Contribute to team-level technical strategies and engage in broader engineering community activities like candidate interviewing and knowledge sharing.

Ensure the operational health, effective monitoring, and on-call support for hybrid connectivity services. Drive initiatives to boost system reliability, observability, and supportability, potentially incorporating AI/ML for advanced operational insights.

A PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field is required. Demonstrated experience in software development, with a strong emphasis on large-scale distributed systems, AI/ML, networking, data storage, or security.

Proven experience in architecting and developing distributed systems, including expertise in concurrency, multi-threading, or synchronization. A solid understanding of algorithms, complexity analysis, and system design principles is essential.

Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: C, C++, Python, Java, or Golang. Experience with C++/Go is particularly valuable for preferred qualifications.
