Join Google as a Software Engineer and contribute to shaping the future of how billions interact with information. Our engineers tackle challenges at an immense scale, extending beyond web search to diverse fields like distributed computing, AI, and system design. You'll work on critical projects, with opportunities to evolve across teams and technologies. We seek versatile individuals with leadership potential, eager to embrace new problems across the full technology stack.
As a vital member of a dynamic team, you will design, test, deploy, and maintain robust software solutions. Specifically within Google Cloud Networking's IP Address Management (IPAM) team, you will be instrumental in the end-to-end lifecycle of IP addresses for Google Compute Engine and other GCP services. This involves managing IPv4 and IPv6 addresses for VMs, Load Balancers, and developing features for private IP space management within VPCs. You will drive product feature development, design highly scalable distributed systems, and collaborate across engineering teams.
Ensure the health and operability of hybrid connectivity services. Drive initiatives to enhance system reliability and observability, potentially using AI/ML for operational insights. Contribute to team decisions and broader engineering efforts like interviewing and knowledge sharing.
This role requires a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Candidates should possess experience in software development, with a focus on areas such as large-scale distributed systems, AI/ML, networking, data storage, or security. Proficiency in architecting and developing distributed systems, including concurrency, multi-threading, and synchronization, is essential. A strong foundation in algorithms, complexity analysis, and system design is required. Candidates must be proficient in at least one of the following programming languages: C, C++, Python, Java, or Golang.
Preferred qualifications include a PhD with coding experience in C++/Go, extensive experience architecting and developing large-scale distributed systems, and a deep understanding of concurrency, multithreading, and synchronization. Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols like TCP/IP and BGP is beneficial. Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and debugging skills are also highly valued, alongside strong written and verbal communication abilities.
