The GDCH Monitoring and Visualization team is seeking an engineer to build the core observability and reliability platform for Google Distributed Cloud Hosted. This platform is essential for collecting and querying real-time metrics and traces from distributed system components.

Craft and implement product or system development code. Engage in design reviews, collaborating with peers and stakeholders to select optimal technologies. Conduct thorough code reviews, providing constructive feedback to uphold best practices in style, accuracy, testability, and efficiency. Contribute to and update documentation and educational materials, adapting to product changes and user feedback. Investigate and resolve product or system issues by analyzing root causes and their impact on hardware, network, or service operations.

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience is required. Possess at least 2 years of software development experience, or 1 year with an advanced degree in a professional setting. Demonstrate 2 years of experience in developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks, or expertise in compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture. Proficiency with Kubernetes, Go, and Infrastructure as Code is essential.

Preferred qualifications include a Master's or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field. Experience with data structures and algorithms, traceability, dashboard creation, and application development are highly valued. Familiarity with developing accessible technologies is also a plus.
