Join Google Cloud Storage (GCS) as a Software Engineer III, focusing on infrastructure. GCS is a planet-scale distributed storage system managing exabytes of data and trillions of objects, supporting major global AI, consumer, and enterprise companies. You will work on Storage Transfer Service (STS), a managed Google Cloud service for transferring large datasets to GCS.

Independently lead and deliver projects, collaborating with stakeholders and making timely decisions.

Contribute to team design processes by authoring clear, concise technical design documents for new features, detailing proposed approaches and implementation strategies.

Enhance GCS client performance by developing automated benchmarking for key customer use cases, analyzing test results, and implementing code changes to address bottlenecks.

Actively participate in code reviews, both to learn from peers and to uphold a high standard of code quality within the team.

Develop clean, maintainable, and well-tested code for implementing new features and performance improvements.

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience is required.

Possess 2 years of experience in software development, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in a relevant industry setting.

Demonstrate 2 years of experience in developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks. Alternatively, experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture is valued.

Proficiency in either C++, Go, or Java is essential.

Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field, along with 2 years of experience in data structures and algorithms. Experience in building infrastructure components within a distributed environment and understanding of cloud environments and storage technologies are also beneficial.
