Job description

Join Google Cloud as a Software Engineer III, Infrastructure, and contribute to the future of generative AI and agentic applications. You'll develop cutting-edge security solutions, designing and implementing a deny-by-default security perimeter for AI. This role is integral to building enterprise-grade solutions that leverage Google's advanced technology, helping organizations digitally transform.

This position offers the chance to work on critical projects within Google Cloud, with opportunities for growth and movement across teams. Empower yourself to innovate and anticipate customer needs, taking ownership of your work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and deploy robust data-plane and control-plane components that enforce deny-by-default AI security policies. You will own features from conception through successful launch, significantly influencing the team's roadmap. Develop low-latency services to evaluate identity, context, and policy at Google Cloud's massive scale. Collaborate with senior engineers on design documentation, weighing critical trade-offs in performance, reliability, and maintainability.

Partner closely with teams like Cloud Load Balancing, Cloud Run, IAM, and Agent Platform to seamlessly integrate new features. Define API agreements, finalize integration details, and proactively identify and address cross-team blockers. Take responsibility for identifying and mitigating component risks, including policy correctness, failure modes, and potential abuse paths. Participate in on-call rotations, resolve production incidents, and ensure timely delivery of fixes. Translate requirements into clear milestones, provide reliable estimates, and deliver on schedule. Guide features through launch, including thorough dry-runs and safe enforcement strategies. Write clean, well-tested, and documented code. Conduct comprehensive code reviews and provide mentorship to Level 3 engineers and interns.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience is required. Candidates should possess at least 2 years of software development experience using languages such as C++, Java, Python, or Go. Proven experience in building and developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems is essential.

Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field. Experience with building and managing services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar cloud environments, including Kubernetes and Cloud Run, is highly valued. Familiarity with high-availability load balancing and networking technologies is beneficial. A deep understanding of cloud security concepts, Identity and Access Management (IAM), and Zero Trust architectures is desirable. Expertise in agentic workflows, including Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, will set candidates apart.
