As a Software Engineer II, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining robust backend services and integration components. You'll contribute to building scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions, working with modern engineering practices to deliver high-quality products.
Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, and testing backend services, APIs, and integrations that support key business and technology functions. You will build secure and scalable software solutions, develop RESTful APIs, and manage data exchange patterns across internal platforms.
Collaboration is key; you'll work closely with product owners, architects, and fellow engineers to translate requirements into effective technical solutions. You'll participate actively in design discussions, code reviews, and release activities to ensure superior software quality. Furthermore, you'll contribute to automation efforts, CI/CD pipelines, and process improvements to enhance delivery speed and reduce manual work, all while adhering to Mastercard's stringent technology, security, privacy, and compliance standards.
We are seeking an engineer with at least 3 years of experience in building backend services, APIs, or integration solutions. A strong programming foundation in Java, Python, or a similar modern language is essential.
Experience with RESTful APIs, service-based or microservices architectures, and the full software development lifecycle (design, coding, testing, CI/CD, production support) is required. Familiarity with SQL, relational or analytical data stores, Git, Unix/Linux environments, shell scripting, and automated build/deployment pipelines is also expected.
Exceptional debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills are necessary, along with a solid understanding of secure coding practices, authentication/authorization patterns, and data protection. Excellent communication and a collaborative spirit are vital for working effectively across diverse teams, including engineering, data science, product, and architecture.
