Join a dynamic team at Mastercard, a global leader in powering economies and empowering people across over 200 countries. We are committed to building a sustainable economy where everyone can prosper. This role focuses on designing, developing, and evolving high-performance, scalable, and secure applications for both frontend and backend systems. You'll leverage cutting-edge technologies to create innovative digital payment solutions.
The ideal candidate will possess robust experience in full-stack development, system design, and problem-solving. A strong emphasis is placed on technical ownership, AI adoption, and collaborative teamwork. You will work hand-in-hand with product managers, architects, and fellow engineers to deliver exceptional solutions from initial concept to production deployment.
Take ownership of the full software development lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of full-stack applications using Java/Spring Boot and React.
Develop robust, scalable backend services with Java and Spring Boot, alongside efficient REST APIs, gRPC services, and microservices architectures. Design and build responsive, reusable user interfaces with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
Strategically select appropriate communication patterns (REST, gRPC, asynchronous messaging) based on technical and business needs. Drive software development initiatives end-to-end, ensuring quality and maintainability.
Actively participate in architecture and technical design discussions, prioritizing scalability, performance, availability, security, and maintainability. Craft efficient relational database models and optimize SQL queries.
Embrace Test-Driven Development (TDD) and a test-first methodology for all new features and bug fixes. Create and maintain comprehensive automated tests across all application layers.
Utilize AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot to enhance development speed, code quality, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting. Drive engineering automation through AI-enabled workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
Critically evaluate AI-generated code and recommendations, ensuring adherence to engineering standards and best practices. Promote the responsible use of AI tools, following organizational security and privacy guidelines.
Troubleshoot production issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement lasting solutions. Lead code reviews, contribute to coding standards, and mentor junior engineers. Foster a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams.
Requires 3-5 years of experience as a Full Stack Developer. Expertise in Java (17/21+), Spring Framework/Spring Boot, and RESTful API/microservices architecture is essential.
Proficiency with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and deep understanding of object-oriented design, SOLID principles, and design patterns is expected. Experience with JPA/Hibernate, Spring Data, and relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL) including SQL optimization is necessary.
Familiarity with messaging technologies like Apache Kafka and concepts like multithreading, concurrency, and performance optimization is required. Strong frontend skills with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3 are crucial for building responsive, component-based UIs.
Experience with frontend state management solutions (Redux, Context API) and deep understanding of React hooks, component lifecycle, and asynchronous API integration are essential. Knowledge of frontend performance optimization, security, and accessibility best practices is also key.
Demonstrated experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and writing effective unit, integration, API, contract, and end-to-end tests using frameworks like JUnit 5, Mockito, Jest, and Playwright is mandatory.
Practical experience with AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot) for code generation, refactoring, testing, and debugging is expected. Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code and understand responsible AI adoption principles is vital. Familiarity with CI/CD practices and quality gates is also beneficial.
