Join our Core OS team as a PlayReady Software Engineer II, where you will drive the development, modernization, and security enhancement of PlayReady's core technologies across various device and server environments. This role emphasizes taking ownership of complex technical challenges, conducting thorough investigations, and improving code quality, maintainability, and portability.
You will be instrumental in modernizing our code and build systems, minimizing platform-specific dependencies, and supporting a live-site service. Collaboration with global engineering teams, active participation in design discussions, and contributing to the evolution of PlayReady’s architecture to meet evolving security, compliance, and partner needs are key aspects of this position.
- Develop and implement code for products, services, or features, with an emphasis on code reuse and minimal supervision. - Conduct code and test reviews to ensure adherence to team standards, adequate test coverage, and suitability for product features. - Contribute to architectural proposals and explore design options, outlining their respective strengths and weaknesses. - Establish comprehensive test strategies to ensure solution quality and prevent regressions, incorporating security testing for validation. - Apply and uphold security best practices in all aspects of work. - Manage the operations of live site services, responding promptly to mitigate issues with appropriate permissions, and participate in on-call rotations. - Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand and define customer/user requirements for feature sets. - Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge and expertise.
To be considered for this role, you should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, coupled with at least 4 years of technical engineering experience. Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python is essential, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional requirements include the ability to meet Microsoft's security screening protocols, which involve a Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire and every two years thereafter.
Preferred qualifications include a Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with 4+ years of experience, or a Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of experience. Experience delivering software for Smart TVs, Set Top Boxes, or Video Streaming devices, as well as familiarity with security-sensitive or cryptographic systems, is highly advantageous.
