As a Software Engineer II, you will build and refine software and workflows to enhance the safety, reliability, and automation of Microsoft Defender service deployments to Azure. Your responsibilities will include developing deployment automation and infrastructure tooling, collaborating closely with service engineers, and supporting your solutions in production.

Key contributions include: - Building and maintaining deployment automation, Azure infrastructure tooling, and pipeline checks for repeatable, reliable service deployments. - Owning engineering features from design and implementation through automated testing, rollout, and production support. - Partnering with Defender service teams to understand deployment needs, optimize existing workflows, and integrate automation with clear ownership. - Writing maintainable and secure code, participating in design and code reviews, and ensuring robust validation, error handling, and safe rollback mechanisms. - Utilizing logs, telemetry, and incident analysis to diagnose deployment failures and improve overall reliability and release quality. - Enhancing engineering efficiency across Defender by minimizing repetitive deployment and operational tasks and creating reusable solutions.

We are seeking a Software Engineer II with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, complemented by at least 4 years of technical engineering experience. Proficiency in coding languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python is essential, or equivalent practical experience.

Ideal candidates will possess: - Experience in implementing, testing, and debugging software features using maintainable code and sound engineering practices. - Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with engineering partners throughout the design, integration, release, and production support phases. - Experience owning the design and delivery of components or subsystems, including managing technical dependencies and cross-team integration.
