As a PhD Software Engineer, you will contribute to groundbreaking projects across AI/ML, networking, data storage, security, and distributed systems. Develop and deploy robust software solutions, contributing to critical projects within Google's AI and Infrastructure organization.

Engage in collaborative design and code reviews, ensuring adherence to best practices for accuracy, testability, and efficiency. Contribute to technical documentation and educational content, adapting to product updates and user feedback.

Analyze and resolve product or system issues by debugging and triaging. Implement advanced solutions in specialized ML areas, optimizing models and data processing pipelines using cutting-edge ML infrastructure.

A PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required.

Possess at least one year of experience in areas such as speech/audio technology, reinforcement learning, ML infrastructure, or another specialized ML field. An additional year of experience with ML infrastructure, including model deployment, evaluation, optimization, data processing, and debugging, is essential.

Proficiency in coding with at least one of the following languages: C, C++, Python, Java, or Golang. Preferred candidates will have two years of experience with data structures and algorithms, and a proven track record of publishing in prestigious conferences or journals. Availability for a full-time role starting in 2026 is also a key requirement.
