The AI and Infrastructure (AI2) organization within Google Cloud is a leader in creating advanced AI/ML capabilities. We are responsible for the software, hardware, and ML systems infrastructure that powers essential Google services like Search and YouTube, as well as Google Cloud products. Your specialized research expertise will be vital in solving real-world problems across AI/ML, networking, data storage, security, and distributed systems.
Design, test, deploy, and maintain robust software solutions as a key member of a versatile team. Write high-quality product or system development code and collaborate with peers through design and code reviews to uphold best practices in areas like code quality, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
Contribute to and update documentation and educational content based on product evolution and user feedback. Effectively triage and resolve product or system issues by analyzing root causes and their impact on hardware, network, or service operations. Implement advanced solutions in specialized ML areas, leverage ML infrastructure, and contribute to optimizing models and data processing workflows.
A PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field is required. Candidates should possess at least one year of experience in areas such as speech/audio technology, reinforcement learning, ML infrastructure, or another specialized ML field. Additionally, a year of experience in ML infrastructure, including model deployment, evaluation, optimization, data processing, and debugging, is essential.
Proficiency in coding with one or more languages, including C, C++, Python, Java, or Golang, is necessary. Preferred qualifications include two years of experience with data structures and algorithms, and experience in fields like artificial intelligence, compilers, databases, data mining, distributed systems, machine learning, networking, or general systems. Demonstrated success through peer-reviewed publications in prestigious conferences or journals is a strong plus. Availability to start a full-time position in 2026 is also required.
