Job description

Join Optum, a global leader dedicated to improving health outcomes through innovative technology. We are a diverse team committed to empowering individuals to live healthier lives by connecting them with essential care, pharmacy benefits, data, and resources. Our inclusive culture fosters collaboration with talented peers, offers comprehensive benefits, and provides ample career development opportunities. Contribute to advancing health optimization on a global scale and be part of a mission-driven organization.

At UnitedHealth Group, our core mission is to help people achieve healthier lives and enhance the effectiveness of the healthcare system for all. We firmly believe in equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of race, gender, sexuality, age, location, or income. Recognizing that systemic barriers disproportionately affect marginalized communities, we are actively engaged in mitigating our environmental impact and delivering equitable care to address health disparities and improve overall health outcomes.

Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining our IDM applications using SailPoint and Java. This includes participating actively in requirement analysis, design, and unit testing. You will also provide critical 3rd level support for SailPoint applications and contribute to the development and delivery of new integrations, features, rules, workflows, and tasks on the SailPoint IIQ & Identity Now platform.

Your role will involve creating comprehensive documentation, workflow diagrams, and test scripts. You will champion problem management best practices, driving root cause resolution to minimize future incidents. Furthermore, you will participate in the production support on-call rotation, tackling complex issues, and collaborating with vendors to resolve root causes and implement mitigation strategies. Engage in software design meetings, analyze user needs to define technical requirements, and identify opportunities for process improvements, presenting them effectively to decision-makers.

Build impactful product features in collaboration with business and IT stakeholders, and devise innovative solutions to meet business needs and enhance application health and reliability. You will also contribute to defining coding standards and best practices, and provide coaching and mentorship to other developers within the team. Adherence to employment contracts, company policies, and directives is essential, as the company retains discretion over policy modifications in response to evolving business needs.

Qualifications

We are seeking experienced Software Engineers with a minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in software engineering. Essential technical skills include at least 3 years of experience with Java, and 2+ years of experience developing applications in React, focusing on component design and state management.

Proficiency in designing and implementing APIs (SOAP/REST) is required, alongside at least 2 years of experience in Agile delivery and working within an agile team environment. Experience with CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance (2+ years), as well as cloud experience with Azure (2+ years), is also necessary.

Candidates should demonstrate experience delivering software using Agile/Scrum methodology and possess a working knowledge of Git and Azure. Experience within a DevOps model and the healthcare industry is highly valued. A solid understanding of Java and the ability to write scripts are fundamental. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential, along with the proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while upholding standards and best practices.
