Join Microsoft's Azure Data Engineering team, a leader in transforming data analytics with products like Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, and Power BI. We are building the data platform for the age of AI, empowering data-first applications and fostering a data culture. The Data Integration team within Fabric connects, moves, and shapes data across diverse sources, making it easy to ingest, transform, and prepare for analytics and AI. The Azure Messaging team manages the infrastructure for Azure Event Hubs and Azure Service Bus, enabling global event streaming and reliable application connectivity. This is an opportunity to contribute to a world of innovation and explore limitless possibilities.

We champion diversity and inclusion, believing that varied perspectives fuel collective power and enhance our service to customers.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain robust software solutions for cluster provisioning, configuration, upgrades, and lifecycle management. Create automation and self-service tools to streamline operational workflows and minimize manual effort. Enhance deployment pipelines, automated tests, release validation, diagnostics, and developer workflows. Utilize telemetry and debugging tools to diagnose and resolve issues, implementing permanent fixes. Contribute to fleet health, capacity management, resource optimization, and cluster autoscaling. Support new region and cloud deployments, validating new compute, storage, and Service Fabric capabilities. Collaborate with experienced engineers and partner teams on feature design, testing, deployment, and support. Document solutions, participate actively in code reviews, and uphold secure and reliable engineering practices. Embody Microsoft's core culture and values throughout your work.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, coupled with demonstrable experience coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, is required. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

Strong foundational knowledge in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and asynchronous programming is essential. You should have practical experience developing and debugging software in C#, Java, C++, or Python. Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud is necessary. We are looking for individuals interested in or experienced with infrastructure automation, deployment pipelines, automated testing, or developer tooling. The ability to use logs, metrics, and experiments for problem investigation and solution evaluation is key. Excellent communication, collaborative problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to learning new systems are vital. While not mandatory, familiarity with distributed systems, messaging services, or infrastructure lifecycle management is a plus.

Candidates must meet specific security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check, which must be passed upon hire and every two years thereafter.
