As a Software Development Manager for the Live Streaming Playback team, you will lead initiatives to develop large-scale automation workflows. These workflows will manage the setup, tear-down, and lifecycle of live infrastructure, supporting global live events and 24x7 linear channels for Prime Video customers. You'll work with cutting-edge AWS technologies and design robust backend systems from the ground up.

This role offers exposure to industry-leading encoding technologies such as 4K/HDR/Atmos, providing deep insights into Prime Video's live platform. The ideal candidate is passionate about creating simple, elegant software solutions, customer-centric products, and agile development practices. You will approach challenges holistically, considering strategic, business, and system-level goals. Your ability to coordinate cross-organizational efforts, handle complex questions, and foster collaboration will be key.

- Lead a software team in developing scalable and reliable services for millions of users. - Recruit, manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Software Engineers. - Provide technical leadership and expertise across product lifecycles, championing software engineering best practices and owning operational metrics. - Collaborate with business leaders and product managers to define product requirements. - Influence the adoption of industry standards for building exceptional client experiences. - Prioritize, communicate, maintain, and execute roadmaps, project plans, and commitments. - Partner with engineers to define technical requirements, architect, and implement solutions in an agile manner. - Build and maintain world-class customer experiences and ensure operational excellence for all deliverables. - Leverage GenAI-based software development practices.

- Minimum of 7 years in engineering experience. - At least 3 years of experience in engineering team management. - Over 8 years of experience leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services. - Strong knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the entire software/hardware/networks development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations. - Proven experience partnering with product or program management teams. - Demonstrated experience in designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling. - Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leadership to gather requirements, describe features, designs, and strategy. - Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing Software Engineer teams to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
