Job description

Join our innovative team focused on leveraging Software Engineering to drive automation, knowledge extraction, and artificial intelligence through advanced Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Recommender Systems, Computer Vision, and Optimization. We are assembling a group of seasoned Software Engineers to bring this vision to life.

This role offers a unique opportunity to partner with a highly skilled team of Scientists. Together, you will architect and build the essential infrastructure and processes required for diverse use cases. These include abstracting text, image, and audio data for ML models, analyzing customer reading behavior to gauge engagement and identify risks, optimizing manufacturing and fulfillment operations, and developing sophisticated AI-based systems.

Our team is embarking on green-field initiatives, empowering you to shape the ideal infrastructure for these groundbreaking applications. We champion autonomy, value end-to-end ownership, and foster a strong collaborative relationship with our experienced Science department.

Responsibilities

As a Software Development Manager, you will spearhead the definition, design, implementation, and rigorous testing of processes and infrastructure. Your work will empower the Science community to efficiently develop, productionize, and monitor their machine learning models.

You will engage with large-scale distributed data systems, providing crucial technical leadership. This leadership extends to product managers, teams, and various organizations focused on building the infrastructure to support these advanced machine learning solutions.

Your role as a SW Development Manager involves enabling your team to craft robust solutions. This means ensuring adherence to essential engineering rigor and constructing systems that meet high standards for performance, scalability, and availability.

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with at least 3 years of experience managing engineering teams, complemented by 7 years of overall engineering experience. A strong background of 8+ years in leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services is essential.

Candidates should possess a deep understanding of engineering practices and patterns across the entire software, hardware, and network development lifecycle. This includes familiarity with coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, comprehensive testing, certification, and live site operations.

Proven experience partnering with product or program management teams is required, along with demonstrated expertise in designing or architecting new and existing systems, focusing on design patterns, reliability, and scaling.

Preferred qualifications include experience in communicating effectively with users, technical teams, and senior leadership to gather requirements, articulate product features, technical designs, and strategic direction. Additionally, experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing Software Engineer teams to enhance their skills and effectiveness is highly valued. A Bachelor's degree or its foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field is preferred.
