Our technology group focuses on optimizing driver work assignments based on time, price, and location, ensuring a flexible and efficient driver pool. You'll be instrumental in developing software that drives these critical decisions and supports the rapid expansion of Amazon Flex into new geographies and products, all while maintaining agile and scalable tech systems.
Lead the design and development of critical services within the Amazon Flex ecosystem. You will influence system architecture and foster a team culture centered on quality product practices. Collaborate cross-functionally with partner teams in Routing and Planning, Research Science, and Finance, applying optimization and machine learning to solve complex logistical challenges.
Take ownership of a high-impact system that serves tens of thousands of Flex drivers and millions of Amazon customers. Drive successful implementation with a go-getter attitude, rapidly learning and guiding your team to adopt cutting-edge computer science techniques. Your role will define long-term strategy, achieve tactical wins, and manage trade-offs, while also enhancing team quality and reducing operational load.
A minimum of 3 years in engineering team management is required, complemented by 7+ years of direct experience working within engineering teams. Proven expertise in designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling, is essential, with at least 3 years of dedicated experience in this area. You should also possess 8+ years of experience leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
In-depth knowledge of engineering practices and patterns across the full software, hardware, and network development lifecycle is crucial. This includes proficiency in coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations. Experience partnering effectively with product or program management teams is also a key requirement for this role.
