Job description

Join a dynamic team focused on minimizing costs within Amazon's supply chain by proactively identifying and resolving inbound shipment defects. This role is instrumental in shaping the future of Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), an integral service empowering global sellers with Amazon's extensive distribution network. FBA offers a flexible, pay-as-you-go model, allowing businesses of all sizes to leverage world-class infrastructure and technology.

As a leader in FBA, you will steer both strategic vision and tactical execution to develop best-in-class seller offerings. Your focus will be on creating effective mechanisms to encourage optimal seller behavior, ultimately driving down total supply chain expenses. Operating with the agility of a startup within Amazon, our team enjoys significant freedom in shaping product and technology direction. Be part of building what's next!

Responsibilities

This Software Development Manager position is crucial for ensuring an outstanding experience for FBA customers and sellers worldwide. You will lead a team responsible for developing and maintaining highly scalable, available web services and systems central to FBA's technological foundation. These services are vital to FBA's global operations, adapting to complex and evolving demands in a high-availability environment.

A typical day involves collaborating with senior FBA leaders on product strategy and roadmaps. You will ensure high-quality software product delivery against project plans and commitments, architecting robust technical designs for extensibility, reliability, and scalability. Building and developing a high-performance software development organization through hiring, mentoring, and growing a top-tier team is key. You will also own all operational metrics and support, working closely with development teams across different global locations on shared projects and dependencies.

Qualifications

We seek candidates with at least 5 years of experience managing engineering teams and a minimum of 8 years in engineering roles. Extensive experience, 8+ years, is required in defining and developing multi-tier web services. A strong understanding of software/hardware/networks development lifecycle engineering practices and patterns, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations, is essential.

Proven experience partnering with product or program management teams is a must. You should also have experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, focusing on design patterns, reliability, and scalability. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required. Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects, and development teams within an Agile framework is necessary. Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, are vital. Familiarity with non-relational databases (e.g., object storage, document, key-value, graph, column-family) and experience in developing distributed/scalable systems and high-volume transaction applications are also required.
