We are seeking an enthusiastic Software Development Manager (SDM) to lead our PGX team. This role involves shaping the team's roadmap, fostering innovation, collaborating with product managers on feature development, and working with diverse stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products. You'll guide technical decisions, review architectures, and build a high-performing team through effective hiring and growth opportunities. The team's technology stack includes Java, Amazon internal services, and third-party libraries.

As a Software Development Manager, you will guide a team of engineers in designing, building, and operating full-stack applications. You'll establish a clear team vision, instilling a sense of urgency to deliver exceptional customer value. A strong focus on results is essential, even if it requires challenging existing processes or protocols.

Your role will involve developing team members by identifying and nurturing career growth opportunities. You will be adept at dissecting complex trade-offs, making informed decisions, and overcoming obstacles. Constructively evaluating and refining proposals and plans will be key to enhancing outcomes. Adaptability and maintaining team morale and focus amidst change are also crucial aspects of this position.

We are looking for candidates with at least 7 years of engineering experience, including a minimum of 3 years in engineering team management. A strong foundation of 5+ years in designing or architecting new and existing systems, covering patterns, reliability, and scaling, is required.

Candidates should possess a thorough understanding of engineering practices and patterns across the full software, hardware, and network development lifecycle. This includes expertise in coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations. Experience collaborating effectively with product or program management teams is also a prerequisite. Experience in communicating technical designs, product strategy, and requirements to users, technical teams, and senior leadership, alongside a background in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and managing software engineering teams to enhance their skills, is highly preferred.
