Join Amazon's People eXperience and Technology (PXT) organization as a Software Development Manager for the Aza team in Hyderabad. You will spearhead the vision, technical design, development, and operation of our generative AI assistant, a critical role at a time of rapid technological advancement.

The Aza assistant supports hundreds of thousands of Amazon employees daily, integrating with numerous HR functions. We are expanding our capabilities by bringing more PXT experiences into conversational workflows, enhancing platform features like skills and personalization, and ensuring operational excellence in accuracy, latency, and quality to build employee trust at scale. As a Software Development Manager, you will mentor and coach a team of software developers to build world-class systems supporting Amazon's global operations. A commitment to the highest standards of quality, maintainability, and performance is essential. You will champion engineering best practices, ensuring software is designed for high availability, dynamic scalability, and resilience.

Key responsibilities include building and nurturing a software development team, shaping team goals through a deep understanding of customer business processes, and developing/executing long-term architecture while managing short-term commitments.

You will collaborate closely with the team to architect and develop optimal technical designs for complex problems. Effective partnership with engineering and non-engineering groups across the organization is crucial for achieving goals.

Basic qualifications include 3+ years of engineering team management experience, 7+ years of engineering experience, and 8+ years leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services. A strong understanding of engineering practices across the full software/hardware/networks development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations is required. Experience partnering with product or program management teams and designing or architecting new/existing systems for reliability and scaling is also necessary.

Preferred qualifications include experience communicating requirements, technical designs, and product strategy to users, technical teams, and senior leadership. Additionally, experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing software engineering teams to enhance their skills and effectiveness is highly valued.
