Amazon's People eXperience and Technology (PXT) organization is transforming HR interactions for over a million employees using conversational AI. As a Software Development Manager on the Aza team, you will spearhead the vision, technical design, development, and operation of our generative AI assistant. This is a pivotal time, with underlying technology advancing at an unprecedented pace.

The Aza assistant supports hundreds of thousands of Amazonians daily, integrating with various HR functions like compensation, benefits, time-off, and hiring. We are expanding our reach by incorporating more PXT experiences into conversational workflows, enhancing platform capabilities for smarter interactions, and ensuring operational excellence through accuracy, latency, and quality to build employee trust at scale. You will be instrumental in designing, building, and deploying production-ready AI systems.

To support this ambitious mission, we are expanding our Engineering team in Hyderabad.

In this leadership role, you will mentor and coach a team of software developers, guiding them to build world-class systems that support Amazon's global operations. A commitment to the highest standards of quality, maintainability, and performance is essential.

You will ensure adherence to engineering best practices, designing software for high availability, dynamic scalability, and resilience against continuity threats. Drive architectural decisions and invent new features, staying ahead of advancements in GenAI technology.

- Minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering team management. - At least 7 years of overall engineering experience. - 8+ years of experience leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services. - Demonstrated knowledge of engineering practices and patterns across the full software/hardware/networks development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and live-site operations. - Proven experience partnering with product or program management teams. - Experience in designing or architecting new and existing systems, focusing on design patterns, reliability, and scaling.

Preferred qualifications include experience communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leadership to gather requirements, explain features, and discuss product strategy. Additionally, experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing Software Engineers to enhance their skills and effectiveness is highly valued.
