This initiative aims to deliver high-speed, low-latency internet to unserved and underserved regions worldwide. The Commerce team is central to this mission, building the systems that will manage customer acquisition, billing, and essential business operations.
This role involves leading software development efforts for critical systems within the Amazon Leo project. The successful candidate will shape the growth of the engineering team and contribute to the design of mission-critical infrastructure, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to architect robust software systems and interfaces. Develop a strategic roadmap for team growth, encompassing both technical services and organizational development. Recruit, hire, and nurture a diverse team of talented software engineers. Contribute to the design and implementation of mission-critical systems for the Amazon Leo initiative. Foster a strong foundation for the software organization by collaborating effectively with team members. Onboard and mentor new engineers, ensuring their successful integration and skill development.
A minimum of 3 years of experience managing engineering teams is required. Candidates should possess at least 7 years of overall engineering experience. Significant experience, 8+ years, in leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services is essential. Demonstrated knowledge of engineering best practices across the full development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations. Proven experience partnering with product or program management teams. Experience in designing or architecting new and existing systems, with a focus on design patterns, reliability, and scalability.
