As a Software Development Engineer on the Linear Discovery Service team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing a sophisticated page composition engine. This engine will dictate the arrangement of carousels and content collections presented to users on Linear pages.
You will build intelligent ordering systems that strategically optimize content placement based on customer behavior and business requirements. Additionally, you will develop and maintain specialized search services optimized for Linear content, encompassing live programs, channels, and upcoming shows. Your work will also involve creating and maintaining scalable services for seamless integration with recommendation systems, ensuring personalized content listings, and developing robust caching and content delivery mechanisms for low-latency responses.
Collaboration with client teams to refine page composition and search APIs, working with the Linear Personalization team for recommendation integration, and driving improvements in monitoring, alerting, and operational excellence are key aspects of this role. You will also contribute to the technical growth of the team by mentoring junior engineers.
We are seeking candidates with a minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience, excluding internships. A strong foundation in designing or architecting new and existing systems, with a focus on reliability and scaling, is essential, evidenced by at least 2 years of relevant experience.
Proficiency in at least one programming language is a fundamental requirement. Experience throughout the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations, is highly preferred. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is also desirable for this role.
