Join Amazon's Payroll Tax & Accounting Technology team and help build a high-performance, globally scalable gross-to-net payroll calculation engine. This role involves developing sophisticated tax calculation capabilities that support Amazon's growth and impact employees directly. You'll work with AWS cloud services in a fast-paced environment, tackling complex regulatory contexts and driving innovation.
This is an opportunity to design and develop a single global system processing millions of employees' payroll, incorporating multi-jurisdiction tax calculations and LLM-based rule extraction. As a Software Development Engineer at Amazon, you will own systems end-to-end, influencing technology that reaches hundreds of millions of customers worldwide. You'll design flexible, scalable solutions, addressing complex large-scale computing challenges.
Build a globally deployed, locally configured gross-to-net calculation engine utilizing LLM-based rule extraction for complex tax regulations and statutory compliance.
Design and develop deterministic tax calculation algorithms for employee withholding, employer tax obligations, and net pay processing across multiple countries.
Create accounting integration services for generating GL and journal entries for payroll-related items.
Implement GenAI shadow mode validation frameworks to ensure accuracy against existing systems.
Collaborate with SDEs, TPMs, tax specialists, and payroll operations to understand requirements and deploy effective software solutions.
Possess 3+ years of professional software development experience, excluding internships.
Demonstrate 2+ years of experience in designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
Proficient in at least one programming language and experienced with the full software development life cycle.
Have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
Contribute to the architecture and design of new and current systems, focusing on reliability and scalability.
