Join Amazon's Payroll Technology team as a Software Development Engineer II and contribute to a highly available, large-scale enterprise software solution. This role focuses on building generic, composable solutions to complex problems and finding innovative ways to develop software.
Amazon Payroll Technology ensures efficient and defect-free business operations at scale. As the workforce expands globally, payroll complexity grows, requiring technological solutions for system integration, automation, defect detection, and insights. This position offers a significant opportunity to influence strategy through feature definition, system architecture, and the implementation of best practices for high-quality product delivery.
As an SDE II, you will lead the architecture, design, development, and launch of core product features. You will drive system architecture, spearhead best practices, and ensure the delivery of high-quality products.
This role demands autonomous contribution with consistently high-quality work. You will solve complex problems using appropriate technologies and best practices, focusing on designing and effectively applying automated solutions for testing significant software components or applications.
You will prevent and identify defects early, employing software testing techniques like equivalence class partitioning and boundary value testing. Building comprehensive test and measurement solutions (performance, load, scalability, usability) and leveraging data from testing, deployment, and production to drive actionable product improvements are key aspects of this position.
Your code will be clear and understandable to other SDEs. You'll be proficient in various design approaches, making informed trade-offs. Solutions should be pragmatic, minimizing incidental complexity, and considering the legacy of produced code. Create flexible, well-reused software without over-engineering and be mindful of resource usage.
We seek a seasoned engineer to play a leading role in the architecture, design, implementation, and deployment of complex, large-scale financial applications. You will innovate and simplify intricate problems, pushing design and architecture boundaries.
Key qualifications include at least 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience and 2+ years in designing or architecting new and existing systems, including an understanding of design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
Proficiency in at least one software programming language is essential. Preferred qualifications include 3+ years of experience across the full software development lifecycle, encompassing coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred. We are looking for individuals with strong verbal and written communication skills, who are self-driven and capable of delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with global engineering and business teams.
